Valentino Retrospective Comes to London!

Nothing says Rome like Valentino. The fashion house’s founder Mr Garavani Clemente Ludovico Valentino moved from Paris to Rome to set up his atelier in 1959, and quickly became a favourite for eveningwear and chic tailoring amongst the jet-set.

And now, Mr Valentino's gorgeous couture is coming to London! To LFW’s home Somerset House, to be precise, for an exhibition in November entitled ‘Valentino: Master of Couture’.

The retrospective will display more than 130 looks by the ‘emperor of eveningwear’ whose creations have been worn by the ultimate style icons of all-time from Grace Kelly to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Audrey Hepburn, many of which will feature in the exhibition, including the vintage monochrome gown worn by Julia Roberts to collect her Oscar and Princess Mar ie-Chantal of Greece’s wedding dress.

In a fun twist, visitors will walk a 60 metre catwalk with the couture-clad mannequins forming the front row and audience.

Anyone who enjoyed fash-doc ‘Valentino The Last Emperor’ will know that Mr Garavani is a fascinating character, and there will also be a glimpse into the personal archives of the flamboyant couturier – with letters, photographs and other tokens on display.

The exhibition will run from 29th November until 3rd March and we can't wait...
