Those looking for a chic, bronzed beauty look for the summer months need look no further than the Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda collection which showcased yesterday in Sicily…
Just when we thought that we'd waved goodbye to the dreamy world of couture shows for until next time, Dolce and Gabbana hit us with their very first ever couture offering. Gasp! And with a whopping 73-outfit collection there were 73 immaculately made up models that needed to be thrown into the mix too, some wearing earrings so heavy they had to be hooked over the entire ear to avoid ripping pierced holes. Cripes. And then what with no less than four individuals fainting due to the heat, it was altogether a somewhat heady experience to say the least. Oh to be a fly on the wall backstage at that show…
Models looked devastatingly chic with centre parted hair neatly tucked up at the nape of each neck. A select bit of back brushing and a few ca refully placed fly away tendrils added a perfect touch of modernity and ensured that the D&G chicks didn’t err on the Victorian school mistress side. White posies were positioned on the back of a few "dos", while other heads were treated to a cascade of netting, courtesy of Dolce and Gabbana’s dark veils. Sultry wedding chic, anyone?
Makeup meanwhile, was kept fresh with blushed cheeks taking centre stage in the beauty stakes. Lips were slightly rouged – nothing to scare the elite couture customers, of course – while eyes were treated to a similar muted tone. Each model’s naturally bronzed pallor meant these beauties could well have been inhabitants of the Sicilian setting. The perfect skin tone and blush to offset the crisp whites, sleek blacks and floral embellishments of the luxury garments.
We love!
