Our Spectacular HATWALK Party at the top of the BT Tower

Our Spectacular HATWALK Party at the top of the BT Tower | Grazia Fashion

After an event as extraordinary as the HATWALK, something a little bit special was required for the wrap party. Luckily, since our sponsors are none other than BT, the idea was mooted that we take proceedings up a notch – 34 floors up, to be precise, to the top of the BT Tower.

Wow! We were pretty excited, as the tower isn’t opened to the public and rarely used for private functions either. With a 360 degree view of London, everyone was completely bowled over, and cautiously giddy after exiting the lift, before getting engrossed in identifying the London landmarks and then trying find their own house!

It was touching to be part of such a scene, with the various milliners meeting up. From generation to generation of milliners like Stephen Jones with Shirley Hex, who taught him to make hats to Sophie Beale, Hat Factor winner who now sometimes works with Stephen (and her hat-making flatmate who works for Bernstock S peirs).

Piers Atkinson and Charlie Le Mindu were both pleased with the fittingly spectacular end to such a surreal week of work, while we overheard Noel Stewart having a catch-up with Gina Foster and Victoria Grant. He asked the ladies, who’d each worked on a hat for the same statue, Sir Arthur Sullivan and The Lady – whether they’d been on the phone together to co-ordinate their efforts? Apparently not, although both milliners had managed to choose the same shade of vermillion for their creations. Maybe it was just another bit of London HATWALK magic?
