For most people retiring is all about spending time with the grandchildren, holidaying out of season and relaxing after a lifetime's hard slog climbing the career ladder. But as 82-year-old New Yorker Jacquie 'Tajah' Murdock proves, ambition doesn't end when you collect your pension. The grandmother of 10 realised every girl's dream when she was personally selected by French fashion label Lanvin's artistic creator Albert Elbaz to be photographed in the brand's latest campaign.

Sporting a forest green peplum dress and dangling earrings with a matching fur shawl draped from her hand the 5ft9 beauty looks every inch the supermodel. It's no wonder she's stolen the show from the rest of Lanvin's autumn/ winter campaign stars which Elbaz has referred to as a "crazy family" and include an unknown waiter, milliner, and a recent U.S. immigrant.

Murdock has previously found herself the focus of attention after featuring on Advanced Style, the blog of fellow New Yorker Ari Seth Cohen, which profiles the amazing wardrobes of the city's stylish senior citizens. Proving that age ain't nothing but a number, she told the New York Post "The other day I was pointing at those "old people". I forgot I’m one of them!"

Born in Harlem, the glamorous grandma grew up an aspiring model but turned to dancing when she failed to land any high profile jobs. She went on to focus her attentions on studying, earing three degrees, including a master's from New York University. Despite her academic achievements, Murdock remained immersed in fashion and her views on the subject demonstrate her belief in individual expression: "You will never see me in jeans. Unless they’re white jeans - because it’s too common. I wear mostly dresses, anyway. I like to be different. I have the eye, and I don’t care if it’s cheap or expensive."

The Big Apple's oldest supermodel doesn't look set on slowing down now she's hit the spotlight. Asked by Elbaz what she plans to do next she replied, "Paris, that's what's next!"' Watch this space...
